Real Estate

Land, as well as any permanent changes added to the land, whether natural or man-made, such as water, plants, minerals, houses, residences, fences, and bridges, are all ‘real properties’ (as opposed to personal property) that can be invested in. In addition to owning residential, commercial, industrial, raw land, or special use land, investors can invest indirectly through real estate investment trusts, or REITs. Homes and rental properties can also comprise an investors real estate portfolio.

In addition to the actual land or property, real estate returns can also come from what the land is comprised of, what is attached to it, rights of ownership (including the ability to sell and lease), and what lies above and below the land.

Real estate is scarce and limited, and improvements to your property can create profitable opportunities. Real estate is a key driver of economic growth and can offer steady income, capital appreciation, and can serve as a reliable asset in a diverse portfolio.
